Welcome to Vortex ("the App"), developed and published by StormGlass Interactive ("we", "us", "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
By using Vortex, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
🔒 Short version: Vortex collects no personal data. Everything stays on your device. No account, no tracking, no ads, no analytics. Ever.
2. What We Do NOT Collect
Vortex is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect:
- Your name, email address, or any personal identifiers
- Your location or GPS data
- Your device contacts, camera, or microphone
- Your conversion history (stored locally only)
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA, GAID)
- Any biometric data
- Browser or usage analytics of any kind
3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The following data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party:
- Conversion history — saved locally when you tap "Copy Result"
- App preferences — theme choice, haptic feedback setting
- Cached currency exchange rates — downloaded from our data provider and stored locally for offline use
- Widget state — your last conversion displayed on the home screen widget
This data is permanently deleted when you uninstall the app or clear app data in Android Settings.
4. Currency Rate Data
When your device has an internet connection, Vortex fetches current exchange rates from open.er-api.com (ExchangeRate-API). This request includes a standard HTTP request — your IP address is visible to their servers as part of any internet connection.
We do not control ExchangeRate-API's data practices. Review their privacy policy at exchangerate-api.com/privacy.
5. In-App Purchases (Pro Version)
Vortex offers an optional one-time Pro upgrade at $2.99. All payments are processed securely by Google Play Billing. We do not receive, store, or process any payment card information. Google's privacy policy governs all purchase transactions.
6. Google Play Services
Vortex uses Google Play Services for in-app purchase processing and app distribution. Google Play Services may collect certain device information as described in Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
7. No Analytics. No Advertising.
Vortex contains no third-party analytics (no Firebase Analytics, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude) and no advertising of any kind (no AdMob, no banner ads, no interstitials). We do not sell your data to any third party.
8. Children's Privacy
Vortex does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app is appropriate for all ages. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will promptly address it.
9. Your Rights
Since we collect no personal data, your rights are exercised directly on your device:
- Delete history — within the app's History screen (swipe to delete, or Clear All)
- Delete all data — uninstall the app or go to Android Settings → Apps → Vortex → Clear Data
- GDPR (EU users) — as we do not process personal data, GDPR obligations are minimal. The legal basis for currency rate fetching is legitimate interest.
- CCPA (California users) — we do not sell personal information and do not collect personal information as defined by the CCPA.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of Vortex after changes constitutes acceptance.
